The technology lifecycle

Every device in the home has a life: bought, set up, secured, maintained, upgraded and eventually retired. A care plan manages all of it.

For example

A family replaces two laptops and a phone. The old devices still hold tax returns, photos and saved sign-ins. One laptop is worth reselling; the other has a failing drive.

We move the data to the new devices and confirm it opens. We sign the old devices out of every account and release activation locks, then wipe the resale laptop and verify the wipe. The failing drive is removed and physically destroyed through a certified recycler. The rest goes to a recycler that meets New York law.

The six stages

  1. 1. Choose

We specify equipment that fits the home and the plan: coverage, compatibility, security support and how long the maker will keep issuing updates.

  2. 2. Set up

Clean installation, data and applications migrated, settings configured to the plan, and everything documented.

  3. 3. Secure

Updates on automatic, strong sign-ins, encryption, backups and network placement. Each device is brought to the agreed security level.

  4. 4. Maintain

Scheduled reviews catch drift: settings changed, updates stalled, backups failing, new devices added.

  5. 5. Upgrade

When a device stops receiving security updates or no longer does the job, we plan the replacement and move everything across.

  6. 6. Resell or retire

Accounts removed, activation locks released, storage securely wiped and verified, then resale, donation or certified recycling.

Data destruction and disposal

Retiring a device is a privacy task. Phones, computers, tablets, routers and cameras keep data and saved sign-ins long after they leave service. We match the method to the device: a verified cryptographic wipe for modern phones and encrypted drives, a full overwrite for older drives, and physical destruction through a certified recycler where the data is sensitive or the drive has failed.

New York’s electronic equipment recycling law keeps covered electronics out of the trash and requires manufacturers to offer take-back. Batteries, screens and other components have their own rules. We confirm the current, legal option for each item.

Who does what

We plan and carry out each stage and give you a record of it. You decide what to keep, sell or retire.
