Services

Security Medic Consulting’s service scope, applied to the home. One team for the technology, the security and everything in between.

Home networks and Wi-Fi

Example: Video calls freeze in the home office, the provider’s router still has the password printed on its label, and thirty devices share one network.

The problem: The router is the front door to everything in the home. Weak coverage costs time; a weak configuration lets one compromised gadget reach the computers.

What we do: We survey coverage, design a mesh or wired system for every room, and harden the router: a new admin password, current firmware with automatic updates, modern encryption, and remote management off. Smart devices and guests get their own separate Wi-Fi, away from computers and phones.

Who does what: We specify the equipment and configure it. You buy it wherever you like, or we arrange the purchase.

Cybersecurity

Example: An email account is taken over and starts sending payment requests to everyone in the contacts.

The problem: Most home compromises start with a reused password, a missed update or a convincing message. Recovery is slow without backups and recovery contacts in place.

What we do: We secure every device and account: automatic updates, a password manager, a second sign-in step on email, banking and cloud accounts, encrypted devices, and backups we test by restoring. When something goes wrong, we contain it, recover the account, and close the gap that let it happen.

Who does what: We configure and verify. You hold every password and approve every change.

Privacy

Example: A phone shares location with a dozen apps, a smart speaker keeps voice recordings, and the family’s address and phone numbers appear on people-search sites.

The problem: Default settings share far more than most people intend, and that data feeds targeted scams.

What we do: We review the privacy settings on phones, computers, smart devices and major accounts, switch off what is not needed, and set recordings and history to delete on a schedule. We help you request removal from data broker sites and keep a short record of what was changed.

Who does what: You decide what each device and app may collect. We make those choices stick.

Computers, phones and applications

Example: A new laptop needs the files, email, printers and applications from a five-year-old one, without losing anything.

The problem: A rushed setup misses backups, leaves bloatware and default settings in place, and loses data in the move.

What we do: We help choose the right hardware, set it up clean, migrate data and applications, configure email, printers and cloud storage, and troubleshoot what is slow or broken.

Who does what: We do the technical work and document it. You choose how it should work.

AI at home

Example: A household wants an AI assistant to summarize long documents, plan schedules and help with homework, without uploading private records to the wrong service.

The problem: AI tools differ widely in what they keep, what they train on and how accurate they are.

What we do: We select AI tools for specific goals, configure accounts and data settings for privacy, set sensible limits for children, and show you where each tool is reliable and where it needs checking.

Who does what: We configure and explain. You decide what each tool may see.

Physical security

Example: A house has a doorbell camera, two indoor cameras from different brands, and an alarm panel nobody has updated in years.

The problem: Cameras with default passwords or cloud sharing left on can expose the inside of a home. Separate systems leave gaps.

What we do: We design cameras, alarms, smart locks and access as one system: placement for coverage, local or encrypted cloud recording, strong sign-ins, and the devices on their own network. Licensed installers handle wiring and monitored alarms where required; we configure and verify the result.

Who does what: We design and verify. You decide who can view recordings and who can unlock the doors.

How we design home security

Smart home

Example: Lights, thermostat, speakers and blinds each run on a different app, and half of them stop working after a router change.

The problem: Mixed ecosystems are fragile and hard to secure.

What we do: We choose a platform that fits the home, consolidate devices onto it, put them on the smart-device network and set up automations that work reliably.

Who does what: We integrate and document. You set the routines.

Fraud and scam defense

Example: A text that looks like the bank asks to “confirm a payment” through a link.

The problem: Modern scams use real logos, spoofed numbers and cloned voices. They depend on urgency and on payment methods that cannot be reversed.

What we do: We set up account alerts, call and message filtering, and a household verification rule: hang up and call back on a known number. We brief the household on current scam patterns and what to do when one gets through.

Who does what: We configure the protections and brief the household. Everyone knows the procedure.

Repairs and installations

Example: A cracked screen, a failed laptop drive, a TV to mount and connect, a new alarm panel.

The problem: Repairs and installs often leave data unprotected and settings undone.

What we do: We take care of the repair or installation through vetted specialists, with the cost agreed first, then restore and verify your data and settings.

Who does what: One point of contact for the whole job: us.

Ongoing maintenance

Example: A home was set up well a year ago. Since then: three new devices, two new apps, a router update that reset a setting.

The problem: Security drifts. Settings change, new devices arrive, and support for older ones ends.

What we do: A maintenance plan keeps the home at the security level we agreed: scheduled reviews, updates verified, backups tested, and a written report each time.

Who does what: We schedule and run the reviews. You get the report.

The whole technology lifecycle

Choose, set up, secure, maintain, upgrade, then resell or retire with the data wiped and the hardware disposed of legally.
